AAT Level 2 Certifi cate in Accounting This course is ideal if you are new to working in fi nance or you are looking to expand and develop your foundation knowledge and skills. At level 2 you will learn skills such as double entry bookkeeping, basic costing principles, and become familiar with elements like purchase, sales and general ledgers. Entry requirements: Successful completion of AAT Access Level 1 Award in Accounting or GCSE grades A-C. You will also need a College interview and assessment. Possible next steps: Relevant employment such as a Finance Administrator and/or progression to AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. Length of the course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: 5
AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting This course is perfect if you have completed Level 2, or you are already at a more intermediate level and looking to develop existing accounting skills. At Level 3 you will learn more complex fi nance offi cer processes, including fi nal accounts for sole traders and partnerships, reports and returns and professional ethics. Entry requirements: Successful completion of AAT Level 2 Certifi cate in Accounting or relevant A Levels. You will also have a College interview and assessment. Possible next steps: University, relevant employment such as a Finance Offi cer, and/or progress to AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting. Length of the course (weeks):36 Hours per week: 6/9
AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting This course deals with fi nance team leader skills, including fi nancial statements for limited companies, complex management accounting tasks, management skills and specialist learning areas. It’s the perfect progression if you have already completed Levels 2 and 3, or you are at a more advanced stage in your career and want a qualifi cation to give you the confi dence and proof that you have the skills to do the job. Entry requirements: Successful completion of AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting or fi rst year of an honours degree. You will also have a College interview and assessment. Possible next steps: University, relevant employment such as a Finance Offi cer. You can also apply for AAT professional membership, become your own boss with AAT members in practice (MIP) scheme and/or progress to chartered accountancy (gaining generous exemptions). Length of the course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: 6
