Fees, fi nancial support and how you can pay


• Many courses are FREE for many people. • If you do need to pay a fee, you could get a loan, bursary or other fi nancial support.


• Fees are not listed in this guide as circumstances for individual students are different. To fi nd out how much your study will cost, and the fi nancial support you could get, please call us on 020 7613 9123, email info@hackney.ac.uk or drop in to see a member of the Customer Services team. Our opening hours are on page 9.


• Don’t be put off by the cost. Ask about the help you could get.


The information in this page is a guide, correct to our knowledge at the time of printing. Please talk to us before you enrol.


If you want to enrol on a course listed on pages 13-19: Courses for


fun and recreation: • If you are a Home Student, unemployed and claiming an Active State Benefi t, you will pay the discounted cost if there is one shown against the course.


• All other people will need to pay the full cost shown.


Your course may be FREE!


For other courses in this guide (pages 20 onwards), you may pay no tuition fee if:


You are aged 19 or older, for a course up to and including level 2, if: • You are a Home Student, and: • You are unemployed or you want to progress in work and you are claiming JSA, Work-Related ESA or Universal Credit because you are unemployed.


• You are unemployed, receiving state benefi ts not listed above and you believe the skills and training from your course will help you to enter employment.


• You are studying English or maths up to and including level 2, (except ESOL unless your circumstances are covered in the points above).


You are aged 19-23 on the day you start your course, if: • You meet the criteria in the section above for 19+ students, or,


Learners with a Learning Disability Assessment should speak to us about which learning programme is right for them, and their eligibility for full funding.


• You are a Home Student, and • You don’t already have a full level 2 qualifi cation (NVQ level 2, 5 GCSEs at A*-C or equivalent) and you need an Entry or level 1 qualifi cation to step up to level 2.


• You are studying your fi rst full level 2 qualifi cation.


Further costs for exams, accreditation, DBS checks where needed, and materials fees may apply. Please check when you enrol.


• You are studying your fi rst full level 3 qualifi cation.


• You are studying your fi rst level 4 or above qualifi cation (not HE) without having achieved a level 3.

If you are aged under 19, you won’t pay a tuition fee. Please ask for our Young People’s guide.


All courses are subject to change and may be cancelled without prior notice as a result of funding changes or low demand. You may be eligible for a discounted tuition fee or a loan on some courses, but you will need to check with us. Students who pay a tuition fee may also pay an exam, DBS Check and materials fee if applicable.
