ALL THE LATEST NEWS, VIEWS AND STORIES FROM AROUND YOUR LOCAL AREA: JUNE-JULY 2013 YOUR INDEPENDENT COMMUNITY PHARMACY As seen on TV

You may remember me previously mentioning the girls’ trip to Birmingham. This is where they lost their bearings and walked towards Wolverhampton, pulling their cases behind them. It must have looked like a multiple sacking on the apprentice, where they’d done so badly that Lord Alan Sugar didn’t even call them a taxi.

I did say that the trip had resulted in a joyously successful selection of the summer uniform. I possibly spoke to soon as someone described as ‘Dowdy Mary’ off Corrie was seen wearing it on the show!

The summer dress has now been worn for a few weeks, but this was after a considerable delay. They say that the inclement weather was the reason for the delay, but I have my suspicions that Mary will have had something to do with it. I don’t know what the problem is as I’ve never encountered any problems following the sartorial lead of Norris Cole.

So that’s what they’re doing!

When I’m working there’s occasionally something that happens in the shop that makes me smile. Here is one such situation:

At Allisons, we pride ourselves on knowing our customers. It is quite unusual that at least one of the staff members doesn’t know a customer when they come in. There is the odd occasion where a member of staff will know you, greet you and your name will slip their mind (it’s an age thing!). You can spot this, as one member of staff will go into the dispensary. Two heads poking out to have a look at you will quickly follow this. If this doesn’t result in a positive ID, then they send out the ‘off-comer’ pharmacist who will not cause offence if they don’t know your name!

Fergie who?

There has been a lot of talk in the press lately about a long serving Scottish manager at Manchester United. At Allisons we have our own long-serving Scottish manager, Angela who has just completed 20 years at the shop, with 8 of those as manager. Unlike Sir Alex, she hasn’t decided to pack it in just yet. So congratulations on the achievement and I’ve kept it short and sweet, as Angela doesn’t make Lemon Meringue (as far as I’m aware).

New starters?

If you visit our new website, you may notice that there are a few pictures of people on there that you may not recognise. I sent the company who built our website some images, but for some reason they decided to only use the one of the delivery van! Before I cause war, that was a joke and the web design company provided the images as I didn’t dare provide any of our staff, other than those that had been previously approved. I put a picture of our Christmas party on facebook and I almost got lynched!

So if you come in expecting to be served by the brunette or the suave looking pharmacist from the website then I apologise in advance.
