Tavistock Computers and Training Ltd, is a company limited by guarantee. A not for profit social enterprise. The aim is to raise enough funds to maintain the premises where we provide service at the pannier market, we have no staffing cost as we have volunteers. The service provided at point of need is free advice on computer or problems, advice on viable and affordable computer repairs and upgrades. We provide at low cost, 1-2-1 tuition for beginners plus any level or topic, Microsoft or Mac. You can get a set of six lessons or just one. We give free impartial advice on getting Broadband installed in the home or business or mobile telephone network dongles, whatever is best for you. If you cannot do it yourself we can call and install your equipment - there is a small charge for this.
We sell both new and refurbished laptops and computers; tell us what you’re looking for and we will try to help. If you have equipment you no longer need, working or not, we would be pleased to accept it as a donation. We will repair it, refurbish it or use it as parts.
You may remember in May 2012 Tavistock Computers and Training Ltd

suffered a burglary at the shop located on the surrounds of the pannier market. Another shop was also burgled and has since closed. Despite difficulties we have managed to survive only because of the support we receive from the public and business. Not many people know that our insurer refused to pay out. We made a complaint and the adjudicator
found for us, but the insurer still refused to pay. Now we are waiting for insurance and financial ombudsman to make judgment; it can be up to a year after the complaint was made to get a legally binding judgment. One thousand pounds Is not a large amount of money to some businesses but for us it makes things hard. Since the burglary we have had to take all laptops out of the shop after closing, because of the risk of a further break- in and insurance cost are too high for us.
