Drawing from a young age has been an advantage for Deborah, with the conceptual part of the creative process, where the ideas for stone pieces, both large and small, come together on paper. Often a maquette will be created for a stone carving, allowing for some investigation into

different possibilities with the given shape of the stone. Sometimes, especially with stone that has an appealing natural shape, carving by allowing the stone to dictate the form is the best course to take. Currently she has returned to drawing

A goal that Deborah and her colleagues share is to be able to show new works in a number of annual, international exhibitions of contemporary jade sculptures and jewellery.

Deborah will continue to go the extra mile with commissioned works in stone, both semi precious or otherwise, and designing jewellery that makes her chosen pieces of jade come to life.
