Marie said: “We’ve been to the world championship at Potters a couple of times and met all the players and the umpires. The boys just love the umpires. They think Bryan Daly is absolutely wonderful – he makes them laugh.” The 2012 world champ Karen Murphy is

It was brilliant!” From that moment, councillors clamoured to lend their support and the council leader even came along to hand out awards at the club’s prize giving. “Eventually, it was admitted that a mistake had been made about how much bowling brings in,” said Marie. “However, I think Barry changed a few people’s minds and the upshot is that the rinks are back in the plans.” The Nicholson brothers’ bowling career has been one that’s packed full of highlights, and you suspect there’s still more to come for Huddersfield’s hidden heroes.
