Tremps continues UVA domination at Greene Hills Amateur Golf

niversity of Virginia redshirt freshman Nick Tremps shot 69-70 at the Greene Hills Club in Stanardsville to win the Greene Hills Invitational. Tremps, from Williamsburg, who has been a regular contributer this spring as a member of the UVA golf team, became the fourth consecutive Cavalier player to win the championship. Tech playing on his home course, opened with a 68 to take the lead after the first round. Tremps, along with Charlottesville residents Chad Jones and Philip Mahone, were all a shot back after 69’s. But Tremps caught fire on the back-nine of the second round with birdies on 10,13,14 and 17. He missed the green on the par- three finishing hole but was able to convert a clutch 8-foot par putt to complete his back-nine 32. Mahone and Moyers both had makeable birdie putts on 18 to force a playoff but their efforts slid by. Keith Decker shot the low round of the day on day two, a four-under par 68, to finish tied for second with Moyers, Mahone and Jones. Keefer-Jeremiah claim second Broach Memorial win


The Hermitage CC duo of Ben Keefer and Rich Jeremiah opened with an impressive round of 59(four ball), followed it up with an alternate shot round of 72 and picked up their second Nelson Broach Memorial title played at The Federal Club in Glen Allen. The opening event on the RGA schedule consisted of 21 teams. Keefer-Jeremiah entered the second round six shots up on defending champions DJ Dougherty and John Reynolds and seven ahead of Greg Marbold and Marco Poccia. Marbold-Poccia shot the

low second round, a 5-under par round of 67 to grab second while Dougherty-Reynolds took third. First flight winners were Salisbury CC members Scott Reisenweaver and Jim Hudson with rounds of 69-71.


The Nelson Broach Memorial is named after longtime Richmond amateur golfer Nelson Broach, an 11-time winner of the Richmond Golf Association’s Amateur Championship and a two-time winner of the RGA Senior Championship.
