CPO: | Certified Pool-Spa Operator Course and Exam

Saturdays, July 20 & 27, 2013

Course: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This is a two-day course and certification program offering instruction in swimming pool/spa maintenance and safety. Participants will need to bring a hand-held battery operated calculator, pencil and paper to both classes.

Course Fee: $245 Members/$285 Non-Members Spanish Materials: $252 Members $292 Non-Members

Re-Take Exam Fee: $145 Members $185 Non-Members

• Pool and Spa Chemistry • Testing • Treatment • Filtration • Pool and Spa Maintenance • Disease and Accident Prevention • Pool Management • Troubleshooting

About Your Instructor

The CPO course and certification test will be led and administered by Steve Hayworth, a certified National Swimming Pool Foundation CPO instructor. Steve is the Director of Maintenance with Drucker & Falk, LLC and has 27 years of experience in the apartment industry. He holds licenses as a general contractor and in electrical, heating and air.

CFC: | Section 608 EPA Certification Course & Testing for Technical Personnel

Saturdays, August 17 & 24, 2013 Course: 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. both days

This two-day seminar will include 8 hours of instruction followed by testing for certification in one or all of the following: Type I, Type II, Type III and Universal certification in the use of EPA regulated refrigerant gases. Attendees will be instructed in the rules and regulations that meet compliance with the EPA refrigerant recycle rules. All instruction materials will be provided.

Those individuals that need to retest only to earn either the Core, Type I, Type II, and/or Type III must fill out the required CFC certification retest registration form at www.triangleaptassn. org or contact Education Director Suzanne Pratt at (919) 782-1165 ext 6. Suzanne Pratt is a certified proctor and will administer the

online exam. Instruction will include:

• HVAC theory • Prohibition on venting • Mandatory technical certification • Safe disposal requirements • Refrigeration maintenance practices • Service practice requirements • Refrigerant sales restrictions • Recordkeeping requirements • High pressure/low pressure systems

As faculty of the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI), Andy Meador, a Certified Apartment Mainte- nance Technician (CAMT), has been in the apartment industry for over 24 years and has served TAA in numerous capacities. Since 2008, he has been employed with McDowell Properties as their Senior Project Manager responsible for the east coast region which consists of 28 properties and 7,435 units. Andy is a Certified Pool Operator Instructor for the National Swimming Pool Foundation, a proctor for the CFC certification exam, and also instructs portions of the CAPS and CAM, National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) designation programs. Andy currently serves as a Board Member on the Triangle Apartment Association Education Foundation (TAAEF).
