“We were amazed and grateful for the very generous gift that was sent from Kilsyth and grateful too to Pete for his excellent work. Below is an update on the plans for the Gypsey centre—part of these plans are a faith statement as the funds do not stretch to the ‘finalised product’ but we now have about £8000 ready to make a start.

Our current plan is to complete the excavation of the land for the Gypsey Church/Community Centre in or around April when the weather becomes a little warmer and the ground has dried out following the winter.

Immediately following the final excavation we will be laying the foundations. We certainly have enough to do that. We are planning some fund raising events in April (another puppet tour) in order to raise sufficient money to build the centre this year.

We have a large team coming from America in July (approx. 20 folk) who are going to help with the building. The hope is to have the centre constructed in July and for at least the hall to be functional by August. We have the permission of the local Mayor and the plans have been drawn. The dimensions of the centre will be 18mtrs by 7mtrs, and will contain a large hall for worship, but also for community

ordered activities during the week, such as educational, vocational training and sport activities. We also plan to have two shower blocks, plus a kitchen and an office in the centre.

For sure it will be the best building in the whole community, but our prayer is that it will be a means of bringing the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ to this impoverished community and seeing them being lifted from their spiritual and material poverty into the riches of God’s Kingdom. God loves this community and there are already a number who have made commitments to Christ and have been baptised. Even this morning 9 of the Gypsey folk were in the little Church in Sardu worshipping God.

Wood for the roof has been ordered and we have provisionally ordered the building materials.

Your prayers for the success of this project are much coveted. Thank you for your love and support over the years. We have much reason for gratitude to the church in Kilsyth and will keep you updated as to the progress.

Our love to you all. Robert McDonald
