83 ennifer Pulver Purr-Fect Designs

Jennifer takes a lesson from her trusty feline companion, “Princess,” by settling in and getting her stance correct before she jumps on any design project. Like her cat. she will adjust and adjust ...and adjust before pouncing on anything. Jen knows that starting right means finishing right. She believes in working with clients in an upfront and helpful manner.

With more than 20 years of design and marketing experience, Jennifer has learned that asking questions of her clients makes a big difference in how the final work turns out. “I ask a lot of questions and really listen as I begin work. That helps me figure out what a client is trying to accomplish with their marketing—the design follows to those goals,” she explains.

The Online Game of “Cat & Mouse”

When Jen started in the graphic design field, the web was not even on the radar screen. As technology and the public perception of the Internet grew, she realized that graphic designers needed to learn web design to be of top value to clients. So she pounced on every learning opportunity she could find.

Because the world of online marketing is ever-changing, Jen regularly renews the commitment she made long ago to: learning as much as possible about web design and SEO; crafting online graphics; and building content. “Staying ahead of the curve has become like a game of cat and mouse,” she says with a smile.

“Learning about SEO and Wordpress design several years ago was one of the best decisions I made in my career. Although the details of how those two marketing functions work together is always changing, the basics are the same,” she shares. “When Google changes its algorithms on how content is found or viewed, professionals like myself need to adapt to that in order to better help clients.”

Equally, with all the technology that the public uses today, web design needs to be responsive. “Several years ago, all designers were in love with Flash—which uses programming to create moving dynamic graphics. Now, good designers will not recommend Flash graphics, because Apple devices don’t support the programming. That is really important to understand! Great catchy graphics don’t work for a client if a large part of the population can’t actually see them,” Jennifer says as she explains the changing online “rules.”

The Compliment That Makes Her Purr

“I got a great response from the work you did for me!" Those are the words that make Jennifer’s heart happy. In the world of marketing, unless the design and plan produce results, they don’t hold up to any standard, Jennifer says emphatically. “I'm always very pleased to hear about increases in sales and business with any client I have worked with. The true measure of my work is a client’s results. I'm very proud of the level of customer/client satisfaction I achieve. It's a thrill, and the ultimate compliment, to continually receive return business from clients.”
