“I realized I could fill this niche with stylish and fun products, using humor and sentiments that exempli- fied what it is really like to share life with Dog. The love of my own dogs and all the time we share to- gether daily, as well as the interactions I have with the dogs I train, greatly

influence the messages we create at Dog is Good,” says Gila.

Business Acumen One thing Gila says she has learned is that building a busi- ness takes strategic long term focus. “While I stay disciplined to accomplish goals,” says Gila, “I am always open to oppor- tunities that present themselves. I am in action everyday and surround myself with a team that provides insight and energy to make things happen.

Dogvergnugen With a word like “Dogvergnugen” in

your mission statement, how could your company be about anything other than dog love?

Gila Kurtz, who owns Dog Is Good, LLC with her hus- band, is vice president of sales and the creative force be- hind the novel company that celebrates “the unique joy felt in the presence of Dog.”

“We do this,” explains Gila, “with our award-winning, original designs that appear on apparel, gifts, greeting cards, and home decor, all inspired by Dog. The success of the Dog Is Good brand lies in our ability to elicit an emo- tional response from dog owners/lovers. Sweet and senti- mental, undeniably adorable, solemn and serious, clever and hilarious – Dog is Good captures what it’s really like to share life with Dog.”

Dog Muse Her first dog Zoe, a Dalmatian/Lab mix, was the inspira- tion behind Gila’s pursuit of a career as a professional dog trainer. “Through my work as a trainer, I discovered there were no clothing or gift items that offered me a chance to express my intense love of dogs,” she explains.

“At Dog is Good, we review opportunities, look to align our- selves with like-minded positive brands, and establish strate- gic goals.” Having a clear message for the brand helps to shape everything Gila and her team do. “I feel our well plan- ned approach to grow with three stabilizing pillars, whole- sale, retail, and licensing, has propelled our business success.

“We often receive email and calls thanking us for our out- standing customer service. I love this compliment, because it is a large part of our guiding principles. Our entire team is customer focused and takes pride in maintaining exceptional customer service.”

If Only People Knew... “How devoted we are to: creating products that truly capture the positive aspects of the dog-human relationship; making a difference in the community and organizations all over the country; donating thousands of dollars each year to charity; customer service and ensuring that we are easy to do business with”, says Gila.

And, Gila adds, she wishes others knew how incredibly blessed she and her husband feel to be able to spend every day working together and spending time with their dogs. Contact Gila Kurtz at 562-735-0219 or gila@dogisgood.com.
