ennifer McCammon Crazy for It

“Spot” magazine, the leading pet publication in Oregon and Washington, has become known as the place to go for any kind of pet information you need. And Jennifer has made it so.

She attributes the magazine’s success to hard work and the bottom line philosophy that “Spot’s” role is to serve. “If we don’t have a solution, we likely know someone who does,” says Jennifer.

Proudly, she adds, “People are crazy about the magazine!” Another thing Jennifer takes pride in is that “Spot’s” still here. “We have survived, through innovation and much hard work, a completely changed publishing industry coupled with a tough economy. Working with ‘Spot’ has been a wonderful experi- ence that has helped a business grow.”

“Spot” now has a monthly circulation of 15,000 and is avail- able at 450 locations as well as online.

Discovery

Prior to taking the reins at “Spot,” Jennifer published a maga- zine for families, selling it in 2006. She says her career has centered around providing resources for living the best life. One of the things she enjoys most about the publishing busi- ness, Jennifer explains, is how much there always is to learn and uncover. “My first step, with any opportunity, is to thor- oughly get acquainted, and acquaint the company with my business, so we might discover how to maximize the opportu- nity and possibly tease out others - for that time or the future.”

Their Good Name

Building a strong reputation also has been key to the success of “Spot,” adds Jennifer. “People know my company to be hard-working, dedicated and transparent. We say what we

mean, mean what we say, and do what we say we're going to do.”

One of the things they do exception- ally well at “Spot” is provide a lot of support for rescue, spay/neuter, and animal foster care. They work hard to find smart ways to con- nect and support shelters, humane societies and private rescues throughout the region. “Spot's nonprofit side supports animal welfare through fundraising, events, education and mentorship programs,” explains Jennifer.
