TOP DRESSING AND SOILS 70/30 Top Dressing
A high quality topdressing material, suitable for dressing any fine turf. Popular with bowls clubs and the owners of fine lawns, it can be used to produce a smooth, free draining turf surface and open soil structure. Application of 70/30 top dressing over fresh seed, improves seed to soil contact thereby encouraging germination and aiding healthy seed establishment.
Made from a blend of 70% specially selected sports sand and
30% graded top soil. Heat treated and screened over a 3mm square mesh the resulting product is free flowing and therefore easily spread.
Available in both dumpy bags and small bags for easier handling and storage. Available in small 25kg, dumpy bags as well as in 10, 20 and 29 loose tonne loads.
50/50 Sports Renovation Mix
The perfect material for end of season renovation work or interim repairs on football and rugby pitches. Equally suitable for repairing surfaces and divots on tees or in lawns, golf fairways or equestrian grounds or the restoration of other areas affected by high volumes of foot traffic or vehicle damage.
Made for a blend of 50% sports sand, 50% graded topsoil and supplied moist, the higher
proportion of soil gives the resulting mix more binding strength and body, so repairs are less likely to be kicked out and newly established grass the best chance to survive.
Available in small 25kg, dumpy bags as well as in 10, 20 and 29 loose tonne loads.
Play Sand
A double washed and screened, BS EN 177 compliant play sand. Suitable for both children’s play pits and school athletics long jump pits, as well as the construction of beach volleyball courts, general play areas and even sand castles.
With rounded to sub-angular grains, a higher percentage of fine sands and being non-staining our play sand has been chosen for its particular suitability.
Available in small 25kg, dumpy bags as well as in 10, 20 and 29 loose tonne loads.
Sports Sand
A washed and graded sports sand, especially chosen for its excellent natural drainage properties. Suitable for enhancing and improving the drainage of football pitches, rugby pitches, domestic lawns, and amenity turf, either through spreading across the surface and working into the soil profile or for amelioration into bare earth before turf establishment.
Supplied moist as a natural turf dressing, our sports sand is fully compatible with our 50/50 sports renovation mix.

ALS supply and recommend a range of sands, soils, rootzones, topdressings and other aggregates for all sorts of applications. It is important to use the correct type and grade for each application and we will be happy to quote and advise. Kiln Dried Sand
A free flowing, easy to spread medium fine sports sand to improve drainage, soil profiles and dilute thatch in turf. Chosen for its compatibility with our 70/30 dressing.
Sand and Organic Mix
A blend of quality sports sand green compost that provides better nutrient and water retention as well as promoting microbial activity in the soil. Available as an 8mm moist rootzone or 3mm heat treated dressing option, sand and organic mix could have applications for all turf types.
Kiln Dried Sand for Artificial Turf and Infill of Synthetic Pitches
An ideal sand to use to dress artificial/synthetic surfaces for sports such as hockey, football and tennis. With a larger average particle size to maintain excellent drainage and an open pile, kiln dried to make it free flowing and available in small bags for ease of handling.
Bunker Sands, Rootzones, Topsoil and Aggregates
All types available from quarries and sites around the country. Options for sterilised or unsterilised, graded and sieved to different ranges. Available to BS 3882 British standard certified topsoil. Aggregates useful for pathway materials, constructions, tennis court and ditch infill.
