Exciting month at Sun Lakes Community Church

RELIGION 75

Chairman Dick Hughes presenting the check to Pastor Don and Laura Hendricks.

Doug Ross The month of April included two record

setting events. A record attendance came to church on Easter Sunday and a record attendance at Celebrate 10 made for a great evening of recognizing Pastor Don Hendricks who has just completed 10 years as pastor of the church. According to Pastor Don Hendricks,

“We’ve been promoting the idea that if you don’t have a church home in Sun Lakes then try our church!” We know how easy it is to retire in this beautiful community and never get around to locating a church home; and if that is you, well, come and give our church a try. At Celebrate 10 we honored our pastor

and those who had opportunity to speak up said things like, “Pastor Don will listen

to me and let me ask any question.” “Pastor Don is a strong theologian, capable of leading a much larger church, very well read – and even if I disagree with him I can go to him and talk it out.” A special treat was hearing his granddaughter Shannon Trottier

sing as well as play the piano.

Joanna Banta played the piano and sang a duet with Pastor and Laura Hendricks’ daughter Melissa Trottier. At the end of the program Chairman of

the Board Richard Hughes presented the Hendricks with a check of nearly $4600 to be used for a trip to Hawaii, which was the decoration theme for the evening. Sunday worship services are held at the

Faith Chapel across from the Sun Lakes Country Club in Sun Lakes. Services are at 9:30 a.m. 

Unity: Source, substance and supply

Kay Davis One of the more familiar stories of

the miracles of Jesus is the account of his feeding the multitudes with a very small amount of food. Though logic defi ed that there would be enough, he fi rst said a prayer of thanksgiving for he already knew that with God there is always enough. His example showed us that gratitude always precedes manifestation.

Instead

of affi rming lack of any kind in our lives, we can affi rm that God is good, God is everywhere present and it is the Father’s good pleasure to give us
