A surprise ace In March, Wendy Sims was visiting

from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her parents, Jim and Marlene Parslow, are residents of Sun Lakes. On March 15, Wendy joined the ladies in the Thursday Pitch and Putt Tournament. As an infrequent golfer, Wendy was worried that she would drag her team down! But on the 9th hole, Wendy hit a hole-in-one! It was such an exciting morning! Wendy and her group were so excited to be in the group of top-scorers for the morning. Wendy is considering taking some golf lessons this summer - how fun!

Wendy Sims, visiting from Minnesota, scored a hole-in-one in the March 15 Thursday Pitch and Putt Tournament. Congratulations Wendy!

The “Over 80’s Ladies” enjoyed their special cake.

C. Reed On April 9, a special luncheon was held

after golf to honor the “Over 80’s Ladies” and one very special lady, Joeye Danforth, who is over 90. These remarkable lady golfers have contributed so much over the years. Some are past presidents, offi cers and committee members. Many of these ladies still add their name to help out with various parties after golf. The SLLGA owes their very existence to these trailblazers.

When some of the ladies started playing golf it was not always easy to get a tee time and many were told they needed to be at home and not on the course. I am privileged to know all of the “Over

80’s Gang” and I love them all. They have some good stories to tell and if you want to become educated on golf or life, ask one of these ladies. Thanks again to all of you and may you all live to be 100+. 

ended April 9, with The Court HaBoobs winning the fi nal playoff round against a tough opponent and last year’s champion Kool Strokers. The league started in mid- November with two – four team divisions consisting of 72 players from our local Sun Lakes tennis clubs. The top two teams in each division qualifi ed for the playoffs held in April.

Throughout the season there were several position changes in both divisions but the Court HaBoobs stayed dominant throughout. Taking third place was The Relics who were the lowest seed in the playoffs winning a close match over The Tuesday Pirates 33 to 29. The league ended with an awards/pizza party to celebrate another great season. Congratulations to all! 
