GENERALS 25

The jazz band from Chandler-Gilbert Community College performed at Cottonwood on March 3.

Mary Scala Before I get down to some good stuff, I

must apologize for a huge mistake made by the board of directors, which includes me. Every year we have had our Sunday Salon in February and we had the jazz band from the Chandler-Gilbert Community College to perform for us. The only date that they could come to Cottonwood was the fi rst Sunday of March. After we agreed to that date we discovered that an opera was also scheduled for that Sunday. We tried to change the date but in spite of our efforts we had to allow the seven students and their professor to come the same date as the opera. Our opera lovers saw a great opera and the rest of our Performing Arts Members were treated to a wonderful performance by the students. We will not let that happen again. After their performance we presented their professor Ted Goddard with a check for $1,000 to be used as the music department sees fi t. May is a month that reminds us that it

will be getting warmer and warmer and will soon be hot and hotter and summer is tough in Sun Lakes. Things slow down to a crawl. This means it will be time to make a list of all the things I put off doing all winter. You know like cleaning the house, watering the bushes and plants, cleaning the garage and all that fun stuff. Some days I get a lot accomplished and other days I goof off and sit around reading, embroidering and making sure I get a nap in after lunch. Next month is the end of our year and

plans are already in the works for next seasons Opera, Ballet and Coffee Classics. Keep your eyes peeled on the Splash for further information. A letter has already been sent out on those venues and theater information will be getting to us sometime this month and we are hoping to have even more attendance than we had this season On March 21, 16 members took the bus into Phoenix to see La Cage Aux Folles.
