Sun Lakes firefighters who participated in the recent wildfire training exercise included Captains Craig Dimerling, Cory Evans, Martin Lain and firefighter Nate Stringfellow along with Sun Lakes Chief of Department Paul Wilson.


Brian Curry A contingent of Sun Lakes fi refi ghters recently attended a multi-agency wildfi re training


exercise in the Goldfi eld area of Mesa off Bush Highway. Under the umbrella group of the CAWRT (Central Arizona Wildland Response Team)


which consists of 27 agencies, the Sun Lakes contingent operated under the National Incident Management system, reviewing various fi re safety topics and performed wildfi re evolutions under a multi agency scenario. The annual drill, which started in 2004, also offers training and performance evaluation


by experienced local, state and federal evaluators, which give the crews a chance to improve on tactics and skills, and enhances safety practices. 
