Well, that’s enough of the Mummerset accent, most of us don’t speak like that, actually. Some do, and they’re a delight, of course, but you have to work pretty hard to find one these days. For this is modern, vibrant, lively, fun-filled Devon. A Devon that’s firmly in the 21st century. A Devon that’s alive to all of the good things in life. A Devon that’s fit for purpose! And we’d like to tell you something about it.

This part of the world has been playing host to holidaying families for more years than we care to remember. And – give or take a lick of paint here or some tasteful re-building there – it’s just the same as it’s always been. Warm and cheerful and truly welcoming to visitors.
There’s great places to stay, interesting things to see, wonderful venues for wining and dining – what more could you want or need? Go to it, and good hunting.

WE’VE all been there haven’t we? You’ve just arrived on holiday after a trying and tiring jour- ney on Britain’s crowd- ed roads.
Finally, you’ve made your way through the delightful lanes of rural Devonshire. Less traffic here, of course, but – it has to be said – they’re not exactly built for speed either.
So now you want to just sit back and relax.
Snooze in the sun, per- haps, or take a gentle stroll on the coast path. While away some time on the beach, get a little sand between your toes.
But there’s a problem . . . isn’t there always? It is that funny knocking noise in the car. Or it could be that one of the kids has left something vital behind. Maybe a fuse has blown in your modest
little holiday let and, for some inexplicable rea- son, every telephone number you dial is sud- denly unobtainable. It doesn’t even have to be anything very dra- matic – just some rather worrying thing which will persecute you all the way through your vacation and give you no peace. Maybe the dog seems a little under-the-weather? Or perhaps you have booked a dinner tonight and only now realise that it isn’t a walk away but a drive. And who wants to lay off the vino on the first night of a holiday?
