BIOG One night, some years ago Das Fenster heard original Rock’n’Roll in a Belfast bar and all thoughts of joining the priesthood went out the window for good. He turned to drinking, womanising, and a fascination with Voodoo. Some men choose to leave home, seeking pastures new; some are smuggled out in the dead of night. Das Fenster took the latter route, landing in Liverpool with only a guitar, a mysterious wooden box, and the clothes he stood up in. A chance meeting with an old acquaintance saw him board a plane for a ‘job interview’ in Hamburg, with false documents and a hastily scribbled telephone number. Das Fenster wound up working for Timmy ‘Te Fixer’, and while acting as his minder at a Boxing match one night, was introduced to ‘Stagger’ Lee; a jazz drummer who supplemented his wages by being the fall guy in rigged

fights. Tey instantly bonded from a shared love of Howlin’ Wolf and Lotte Lenya. Later that same night, at a meeting to discuss one of ‘Te Fixer’s’ schemes, the final member of the trio arrived. Certain ‘items’ needed to be moved around town without attracting too much notice. Enter ‘Pearly’ Gates, a double- bass player by night, and Timmy employee by day. Te double bass is a big, hollow instrument, and there was money to be made by filling all that empty space. Taking his place at the table, alongside Das Fenster & Stagger Lee that night, their friendship was cemented. Released from their day jobs with ‘Te Fixer’, they moved to Norwich, England, went into serious rehearsals, and a band was born.

RELEASES Das Fenster & Te Alibis are in the middle of recording their first album, and are hoping to have it available at the end of this year. Tere are a few rough demo recordings on Sound
