Natural Awakenings practices environmental sustainability by using post-consumer recycled paper and soybased ink on uncoated stock, avoiding the toxic chemicals and huge energy costs of producing shiny, coated paper that is harder to recycle.

One amazing event that we have seen come on to the New York map over the past three years is Green Festival that made it’s debut at the Javits last year in April on Earth Day. It was at this place where we were able to see the seeds of our labor of love grow into the hearts of so many in the New York community. We were really taken back when countless attendees came up to us with their hearts, eyes and arms open. People exclaimed openly, ”Natural Awakenings, we love you”. Another woman told me in the most grateful voice that she found her all her healthcare and medical needs from our pages and she embraced me. It was quite an accomplishment in this day and age of media overload to make an impact into the hearts of so many with “good news”...what we pride ourselves in.

I hope you take out your calendar right now and mark down the following dates: April 20-21, 2013. This will be the return of the fabulous Green Festival to NYC on Earth Day weekend at the Javits Center (see more page 19)! Please come visit us at our booth and spend time talking with us. We do what we do to educate, inspire and help the community and we would love to connect with you directly beyond our pages and our screens!

Feel Good, Live Simply, Laugh More,

Well I think we can safely say that we have shed the winter coat and that we are clearly into spring and all the bountiful gifts that it provides. Birds singing, a yellow sky, sprouts, smiles and all the beginning signs that we are headed closer to the wonderful season of summer! With the turn of this new season, we have also turned 3 years old! Yes, 3!! Natural Awakenings of New York City had made it’s debut with the April 2010 issue, and since then we have been on an amazing journey of connecting with New York’s top green and healthy living leaders and visionaries.
