industry, pursuing her passion for esthetics. While preserving her rich Chinese heritage, Ling simultaneously assimilated into main- stream American culture and opened her first LING SPA in 1984 at the intersection of 57th street and 5th avenue in NYC. Ling found there were no products on the

market that delivered what they promised, and went on to develop her own collection of skin- care products in 1985, becaming a pioneer in formulating products without known irritants such as oils, lanolin and artificial fragrances. Ling’s fine artistry of skincare attracted spa enthusiasts, loyal celebrities, models and Hol- lywood’s leading stars. She became renowned in New York for her superlative results-oriented skincare as well as becoming a facialist to the stars, servicing the likes of Naomi Campbell, Barbara Streisand, Meg Ryan, Alexander Wang, Renee Zellweger, Mariah Carey and Madon- na since the 1980s. In recent years, Ling has expanded her brand message to encompass holistic wellness, educating others about the interconnectedness of the mind, body and soul based on her deep-rooted spiritual background.

Please give a brief introduction of your business. LING New York was founded in 1986 in New York City. We currently have two skin care clinics in NYC, specializing in facials. LING New York is a complete luxury professional and retail skin care brand. At LING we merge State-of-the-Art ingredients with Asian beauty secrets, blending the best of the West and the East. At Ling, we are renowned for our results- oriented facial based on superior cleaning of the skin, with skillful thorough extractions. My brand concept is based on complete skin care, which means we provide the complete package of cleansing facials, problem solving treatments and at-home care regimen.

Please describe the “East meets West” philosophy of your product? The Asian beauty principle is based on preven- tive care rather than just treating symptoms. Asian cultures are more focused on holistic skin care and preventing skin problems from

occurring. With my cultural background from Hong Kong and China and my access to State- of-the-Art skin care labs and Western chem- istry, I felt it was wise to merge the best of the East and West to create a unique and compre- hensive approach to preventing the causes of skin problems while also treating skin ailments with advanced potent ingredients.

Many famous stars use LING skincare services now. Are they attracted by you or this brand? I believe the famous stars are attracted to our brand because we are known for visible last- ing results. Word of mouth spreads between celebrities and that is how we established our reputation as the brand to achieve real results.

What are the main skin problems that LING can solve? There are many skin problems that famous stars come to LING to solve. Among them are wrinkles, acne and pigmentation. Celebrities usually come to us because we provide holistic skin care which includes thorough pore extrac- tion and cleansing facial, problem solving infu- sion treatment and a five-step home care regi- men. The result is that we quickly solve their skin concern and they recommend our LING facials and products to other celebrity friends.

Is there any treatment process that uses equipment? Yes, we use advanced skin care equipment. The LING facial is based on thorough superior cleansing so we use ultrasonic waves to exfoliate dead cells and impurities. We follow the exfolia-

tion with ultrasonic wave infusion to deliver vital nutrients into the lower layers of the skin. Using the right skin care equipment is neces- sary for advanced treatment results but a basic cleansing facial must be the foundation. Often, clients and therapist rely too heavily on the latest cutting edge skin care equipment and overlook the fundamentals of a proper facial and at-home product regimen. My brand's skin care phi- losophy is to provide a comprehensive skin care approach of cleansing facial with advanced exfo- liation with skin care equipment, infusion of vital nutrients with equipment to target client's skin ailment, followed by proper home care.

Please recommend your most popular prod- uct/treatment. Our star product is Apple Stem Cellular Ener- gy Serum. This is our new star age-defying youth boosting solution. The Stem Cell for- mula is extraordinary and beyond the standard stem cell products in the market because we merged Swiss Apple Stem Cells with Hima- layan Soapberry and Ginseng Extract. This is a potent state-of-the-art formulation designed to enhance the skin's performance and revitalize a youthful and healthy complexion. Swiss apple stem cells have a unique proven ability to defy chronological aging. They are highly effective in reducing fine lines, crow's feet and lighten- ing pigmentation. ATP energy from Soapberry provides a powerful boost of cellular energy to improve and revitalize a youthful appearance. Ginseng provides a toning and complexion clarifying effect. The result has been extremely effective, especially for Asian skin tone.

What is LING SOL? The 'SOL' collection and experience is a creation of myself and my son Patrick, after many years of exploring and practicing the interconnectedness of our mind, body and skin and how it can posi- tively affect our health and beauty. LING SOL is an acronym for Spiritual Organic Lifestyle. The SOL creation is an inspiration to merge organic ingredients with pure intentions to rejuvenate our soul and senses. Certified Organic formu- las for the face and body are carefully blended in-sync with Asian health principles balanced with positive mind and open heart techniques to enhance a journey of inner wellness.
