云图 CLOUD ATLAS

By Lana and Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer

The official synopsis for Cloud Atlas describes the film as: “An exploration of how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution.” The film consists of six interrelated and interwoven stories that take the viewer from the South Pacific in the 19th century to a distant, post- apocalyptic future. Unlike the original novel, the film is structured, according to novelist David Mitchell, “as a sort of pointillist mosaic: We stay in each of the six worlds just long enough for the hook to be sunk in, and from then on the film darts from world to world at the speed of a plate-spinner, revisiting each narrative for long enough to propel it forward.

AB Concept’s cofounders Ed Ng and Terence Ngan create award-winning individual design projects and their clients include the Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, W Hotels, Marriott International, Swire Properties and Henderson Land, plus projects spanning Southeast Asia, the Middle East and China. The book reveals their inspirations, details their creative process, and explains their artistic vision. Each chapter focuses on a design element that AB Concept employs to communicate authentic luxury: Color, Craftsmanship, Texture, Form, Pattern, Scale, Light, Simplicity and Sense of Place. SPACHINA CD REVIEW

This guy is probably the best pop music per- former/songwriter to emerge for a decade. He has such potential, and appears to have the balance to avoid the problems of someone like Michael Jackson. His latest album covers a wide range of styles, but all the songs are great. I particularly like Locked out of Heaven. This kind of music these days is possibly best expe- rienced on Youtube, but it is available for sale and download all over the place.

A COLLECTION OF THE MOST RELAXING NEW AGE MUSIC IN THE UNIVERSE By Various Artists

Spa music involves all sorts of possibilities, but “New Age” music is definitely a part of the mix, and this collection includes two hours of mate- rial that should be calming, unobtrusive and acceptable to anyone as background music, as long as you are not listening too closely. This collection includes tracks from more than a dozen “performers”, or perhaps more accurately in some cases, music construction artisans. Most of them, in this case, Japanese.
