LEFT: Going into the final two games of the regular season on the past weekend, Jordan Salahor had a four-point lead atop the KIJHL individual scoring race with 29 goals and 48 assists for 77 points. In his third season with the Kelowna Chiefs, the Victoria native, who honed his consider- able skills with the Pursuit of Excellence (three years) and the Okanagan Rockets major midget team, has more than dou- bled his output of a season ago.

BELOW LEFT: A product of the Calgary minor hockey system and the major midget Calgary Flames,Nick Josephs an- ticipated a smooth transition to the Alberta Junior A Hockey League last fall. But after being released by the Okotoks Oilers, he sought a change of scenery. With a brother living in Kelowna and want- ing to continue his education (at UBCO), Josephs made a phone call to the Kelowna Chiefs to see if they had open- ing. Sight unseen, the Chiefs invited him for a tryout. They’ve counted their bless- ings ever since. Despite the late start in mid-October, Josephs was fourth in league points with 71 and second in points-per-game going into the final week- end of league play. Along with Salahor, he’s led the Chiefs to first place in the Okanagan Division and with a shot of first overall in the KIJHL.
