FINE DINING Clinkerdagger. English pub décor overlooking the Spokane River. Known for their fresh seafood, steaks, and rock salt-roasted prime rib, Clinkerdagger is a favorite eating place among locals. Their salmon filet is one of the best in the area. Luna. Reviewed Oct 2010. For nearly 20 years, Luna has set local culinary trends in Spokane as one of the top restaurants in the region, and a large number of the chefs in the region have spent time in the Luna kitchen over the years. The space is magical, bread comes from their own bakery fifty feet from the back door, and the restaurant has one of the best wine cellars in the region. We love Luna’s Bianca pizza fired in their wood-burning oven, their Roasted Butternut Squash bisque with Dungeness crab, as well as the Smoked Salmon Benedict from the weekend brunch menu. Much of the rest of the menu changes seasonally. Masselow’s at Northern Quest. Reviewed June 2010. Named after a strong chief that was instrumental in the survival of the Kalispels, Masselow’s combines the culinary heritage of the tribe with Northwest fine dining. The restaurant features an intimate and lavishly appointed dining room just off the hotel lobby in the new wing of the Northern Quest Resort and Casino in Airway Heights and serves up an Elk Sirloin and Seared Scallops worth the drive. The Melting Pot. This 5,500 square foot restaurant in downtown Spokane is devoted to fondue. This unique addition to the northwest offers a memorable event rather than simply dinner. Order the “Big Night Out” and you will find 3 four-course extravaganzas meant to be shared by two. Italia Trattoria. Reviewed Dec 2010. Great Italian food from world-traveled chef Anna Vogel in an intimate neighborhood bistro in Browne’s Addition. Vogel’s ingredients and dishes clearly express Italian sensibilities, but then go on to immediately transcend the “box” Americans have for Italian food. Expect to find a vibrant seasonal menu with both the simple and the adventurous: everything from classic spaghetti and meatballs to charred octopus in a spicy tomato oil.
