ILSINGTON barman and ultra-marathon runner Kevin Carr is to swap pulling pints for a 19,000-mile Guinness World Record attempt. The 32-year-old, wants to become the only person to officially circumnavigate the globe on foot in a 20-month epic starting in April, Mr Carr will cover an average of 40 miles a day pulling a trailer containing everything he needs. The gruelling task will involve more than 36 million footsteps and his route will pass east to west from San Francisco through New Zealand, Australia, Russia, Europe, Canada and back to North America following the most favourable weather.


SIX DAWLISH WI’s January meeting welcomed two visitors and 11 members. Daw Vale Resi- dential Care Home has accepted their knitted blanket for the home. Dot Dromey spoke about the resolutions members need to vote on which were: the decline of high streets and town centres and keeping young people suicide-safe online. Mrs Dromey had been to a meeting regarding the issues at Ipplepen and gave a summary on them and the information was also included in the WI magazine. The votes were duly noted and will be sent to the annual general meeting of the WI.
