GEORGIA Abbott-Palmer has been chosen as this year’s Chudleigh Carni- val Queen. The 15-year-old is a Year Ten student at Teign School, King- steignton, and has been an attendant for the past two years. She will be accompanied by six attendants.

DREAMS of a £100,00 state-of-the-art skate park for Ashburton have come true after Ashburton Rollers secured £50,000 of Olympic legacy cash from Sport England. The group’s aim is to have a high quality concrete facility open at the recreation ground by the summer holidays.

THE Marie Curie Cancer Care Newton Abbot and District Fundraising Group has celebrated a successful first 12 months in which more than £6,000 was raised for the charity. The group started its year by coordi- nating the Great Daffodil Appeal.

A BOVEY Tracey goldsmith created a £10,000-plus brooch the Queen was pictured wearing on Christmas Day. Ian Hall, of Lasting Impres- sions, was asked by the British Jewellers’ Association to handcraft the platinum framework.
