“ The school did a lot for me in my day, and I hope my contribution can assist in making it possible for others to gain the same education, culture, discipline, and training that I did when I was there.”

They were both class leaders, Betty as president and Frances as secretary- treasurer. As adults, they were not only close friends but also members of the same family: Betty married Frances’s brother. Later in life, they both wanted to support the school that played such a large role in their lives. Each remembered the school through a bequest to carry on the work of OES. Betty died in 1991, and Frances died last year. Though they are gone, their association with the school will continue in perpetuity. Their gifts to the endowment ensure that students today and in the future will receive the same fine education that Frances and Betty shared.

rances Watzek ’33 and Bettybelle Tubbs ’33 were best of friends when they were girls at St. Helen’s Hall. On the undefeated school basketball team, Frances played center and Betty played guard. On the school yearbook staff, Betty was the editor and Frances handled business and advertising.
