Delivering a management revolution


This amounts to delivering a management revolution, but there is a gulf between understanding its impact and knowing what is the right thing to do and being able to do it. The traditional approach to this has been consultancy-led. The problem is that this is difficult both to scale across and embed within the organisation. To make a difference, CloudApps had to provide a software and services product that would answer both these issues and ultimately increase the potential valuation of CloudApps itself.

Right company, right place, right time, right technologies


All of this would confirm CloudApps is the right company in the right place at the right time, using the right


technologies. But this didn’t happen by accident. Before co-founding Cloud App’s, Peter Grant had over fifteen years’ experience in software sales and marketing success. Prior to establishing CloudApps, Grant was CEO at derivatives trading platforms company Actant, where he transformed the company from an engineering- led focus to a customer-centric focus, bringing to market a major product update to stimulate significant revenue growth.


CloudApps’ other founders, investors and board members include Chairman Dr. Steve Garnett, who has had had one of the most distinguished careers of any European executive in the software industry. Garnett has been a member of the executive management team of three software start-ups – Oracle, Siebel and Salesforce.com - the latter of which he still chairs in EMEA - that have each turned into some of the most successful software companies in history.


In 2009, a Daily Telegraph poll named Garnett as one of the 50 most influential Britons in Technology.


Alongside


Investor and former board member, Stephen Kelly, he is interested in other entrepreneurial UK-based firms including customer engagement insight start-up,


Artesian Solutions; global


talent management specialist Fairsail; and professional services management


platform supplier, Kimble Solutions. Stephen Kelly is also currently the Cabinet Office COO, with a brief to drive through efficiencies in the public sector. He joined the Government after three years as CEO of MicroFocus, turning the £200m company into one worth £1bn. Such was his impact that when he announced his resignation, the stock plunged, wiping £100m from the share price.


Previously Kelly spent nine years establishing the EMEA operations for Chordiant, a US enterprise customer experience software business.


As


global CEO, he subsequently built and floated Chordiant on NASDAQ, where it was regarded as one of the exchange’s most successful companies.


Already multiple-award winning and supporting over 220 customers across the globe, CloudApps and its investment and management team have a clearly successful formula. As Grant remarks, one of the great things about being self-funded by very experienced executives actively involved in the business is that it is agile, decisions are made quickly and plans enacted to capitalise on changes and the opportunities in the marketplace as they arise. “That’s certainly something that ensures we truly live our promise – Business Performance Delivered,’’ he emphasises.
