Can you tell us a bit about your design process? For instance, how do you source your materials and choose which to use for a specific piece? Colour is often a starting point, or a piece of hand knitting or vintage fabric from my collection. I will then find a complementary colour or contrasting texture in another material, plus buttons or ribbons that will work with those. I don’t often sketch my designs or make patterns - I just start and see how it works out. It can be a pretty ad-hoc process which is why I make one-of-a-kind pieces.

What do you love most about designing and what do you find the most frustrating? I love being able to create things that are appreciated by others. It is wonderful to receive lovely feedback from customers. I can get frustrated when an idea fails, but often a failure can lead to another (sometimes better) idea...

Can you tell us a bit about your design space and can we have a sneaky peek? I have a dedicated space for my graphic design work but, when it comes to my textile designs, I work all over the house and sometimes in the garden on a nice day. My materials are also stashed in different places, including a wardrobe full of fabric and a big old steamer trunk stuffed with yarn!
