Have you lost your Financial Adviser?
What an odd question, you may think, but read on and you will realize that it isn’t. Traditionally January is a time for recovering from the wonderful excesses of Christmas and the New Year Celebrations, and re-focusing on our financial situations. Taking good care of your finances can be beneficial not just for your financial health but also your peace of mind.
The New Year is as good a time as any other to
review your financial circumstances, such as your pensions, investments and protection planning. However, 2013 will see one of the biggest changes to the financial advisory services for many years, with the implementation of the Retail Distribution Review (RDR). RDR is a series of reforms for the financial advisory industry and one very positive outcome is that consumers will be dealing with better qualified advisers, as each adviser will have had to sit extra exams to become qualified to Level 4 in Financial Advice.
However, one of the drawbacks for the average man in the street is the potential loss of advice from their bank financial advisers, (or bank financial planning consultant) because many of the high street banks have withdrawn from providing this service. You are probably not aware of this change, and it will be a slow realization for many people that there is potentially no one available at their local bank to help them with their annual Investment ISA or to review their existing Investment ISAs and Unit Trust investments. This could be quite a shock for the customer.
If this is you then you may need to look for an alternative financial adviser. With an experienced adviser such as myself you can be assured of an expert service. I help many people with a diverse range of needs and circumstances, from individuals through to companies. I have been advising clients for 27 years, and believe in providing a bespoke home service, where my advice can be tailored to your individual needs.
Pensions are another topical subject, with again,
many changes happening from 2012. Are you a company owner and what is your knowledge of the Auto Enrolment rules? There are lots of conditions employers will need to take into account and all employers will be different, please get in touch or seek advice sooner rather than later.
