I have grown some of the larger very tall varieties for cut flowers in the past, but intend to go for some of the smaller G. primulinus varieties, and maybe some even smaller ones from the Nanus group. They can be grown in pots or containers but they need a good depth for their roots, and will require support as they grow.
One of the problems with modern light composts and plastic pots is plants getting very top heavy, and fall over easily. Nurseries use posts and wires to attach tall growing plants but large stones wedged against a few individual pot plants looks better in a small garden, or go for some larger heavy containers for growing.
