Woodland Sculpture Sunday 13 May 12noon-3pm


Create fabulous wooden animal sculptures using wood and basic hand tools. Suitable for children aged 7 years and over. £2 per sculpture.


Bugs Galore Thursday 7 June 12noon-4pm


Discover the world of bugs in a hunt around our orchard. Bug Hunts at 12 noon 1.30 and 2.30pm Bug craft activities for children. £1.50 per child.


Summer Camping Weekend

Safety on Dartmoor Day Saturday 23 June


Come along and meet people from the various emergency services and organisations across Dartmoor including, Dartmoor National Park, Devon Air Ambulance, Camels Head line rescue, local police and fire fighting crew. Demonstrations of rescues and loads of advice and information on how to keep safe on Dartmoor. Normal admission charges apply.


The Diamonds of Lydford Gorge Saturday 2 to Sunday 10 June 10am-4pm Follow our Diamond Jubilee Treasure Trail. Find our diamonds to discover the natural beautiful treasures of Lydford Gorge. £1.50 per child.


Beautiful Butterflies Sunday 8 July 12noon-4pm


Learn about the beautiful butterflies at the gorge and which plants are best to attract them. Butterfly craft activities will also be available for families to join in with. £1.50 per child.


Wild Tribe: Leaf Strings and Natural Mobiles Thursday 9 August 1-4pm


Create your own leaf strings and natural mobiles with our National Trust Rangers. £2 per child.


Wild Tribe: Clay Faces Thursday 16 August 1-4pm


Come to our woods to learn from our head ranger how to make the trees of Lydford Gorge come alive creating their own scary or friendly faces out of clay. Return home with the skills of how to make your own trees come alive too! £2 per child. Booking advisable.


Tales from the Gorge: Lydford Gorges’ Myths and Legends


Tuesday 21 August 2-4pm


Come and be mesmerized and entertained by our professional storyteller Mark Haradon, ‘Captain of the West’, with the myths and legends of Lydford Gorge. Superb entertainment for adults as well as children (aged 5 and over). £4 per person. £10 per family (2 adults and 2 children). Booking advisable on 01822 820320.


Wild Tribe: Dutch Arrows Thursday 23 August 1-4pm


A game of darts the National Trust way! Make your very own spear from freshly cut hazel and be taught how to throw at targets in our orchard to find the longest and most accurate spear thrower. £2 per child.


Orchard and Apple Day Sunday 30 September 12noon-3pm


Help collect our apples for juicing. See the apple press in action. Activities in the orchard for all the family. Bring a picnic.
