on, “Traditionally ours seems to be a culture where the contribution women make to our industry is largely hidden, but I believe passionately that, if we allow it, our women and family members have massive potential to contribute even more to our success. Also, in these difficult times, belonging to a restaurant family offers all our children career opportunities and chances to achieve which are unavailable to so many out there. So let’s get behind our women and our families and allow them to be more visible and recognised for what they are and could be doing.”


The occasion was also used by Enam as a platform to raise other key issues facing the industry. In particular he returned again to the skills shortage facing the industry, caused to a large extent by the last Government, which limited immigration by introducing a points-based system. “As we anticipated this has restricted the availability of the culinary talents
