Cinammon Soho picks up festival award

fourth award in as many months for Cinnamon Soho, following on from its success in being named within the 100 Best Dishes in London 2012, second- runner at Taste of London 2012 and second-runner up in Square Meal Canapé Cup 2012.

At an awards ceremony held at Vinopolis to mark the end of the London Restaurant Festival last October, Cinnamon Soho walked away with more than just memories. The third of Vivek Singh’s chain of respected modern Indian restaurants, which also include The Cinnamon Club and Cinnamon Kitchen, picked up the award for best £10 menu. This was the

Created by head chef Ramachandran Raju, the two-course menu that picked up the London Restaurant Festival award features starters such as fat chilli paneer and haleem with saf- fron pao; mains such as marrow steak with bitter gourd and lentil sauce, and tandoori chicken and chilli Delhi sandwich; and desserts such as carrot

halwa roll with cinnamon ice-cream and chocolate and chilli goli.

Cinammon Soho is located just a stone’s throw from Carnaby Street and is more of a casual dining experience than its two sisters, with the emphasis on comfort food and sharing plates. Together with Ramachandran Raju - who has worked under the Cinnamon umbrella for over a decade - Vivek has created an all day menu that combines modern Indian cuisine with some British favourites, such as Bangla Scotch Egg, Roganjosh Shepherd’s Pie, Curried Cullen Skink and a Punjabi-style Fish and Masala Chips. With an interior decor featuring teak and steel, Cinnamon Soho retains the sophistication of its older siblings. Spread across two floors the main restaurant is upstairs, while down- stairs offers more dining space with a view into the kitchen that gives guests a chance to see the chefs’ creative hands at work. Dark wooden walls are interspersed with a strip of neon- orange lighting, while racing-green lamps, teal-coloured seating and marble-topped tables complete the look.

Cinnamon Soho is also available for private hire: the downstairs area can host up to 34 for seated celebrations and up to 50 for a stand up cocktail reception or full-on party.
