FILM ROUND-UP

Let’s Go To The Movies

For more than 85 years, Walt Disney Studios has been the foundation on which The Walt Disney Company was built and arguably the cornerstone of cinema ticket sales too with box office smash after box office smash of movie magic responsible for £billions of revenue. As Disney looks forward to an exciting calendar of movie releases, we lift the curtain on the silver screen sparkles set to hit cinemas. Today, Walt Disney Studios brings quality movies to consumers throughout the world. Feature films are released under a number of banners: Walt Disney Animations Studios and Disney/Pixar. Films from DreamWorks Studios are also distributed by Disney.

Let The Games Begin With its theatrical debut on February 15 this

year Wreck-it Ralph is the latest movie from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Wreck-It Ralph longs to be as

beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix. The

problem is nobody loves a bad guy, but they do love heroes. So when a modern fi rst-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as

nails Sergeant Calhoun,

Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan - win a medal - but soon wrecks everything, and accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope is Vanellope von Schweetz, a young, cute, quick witted ‘glitch’

from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy.

This is a hilarious videogame hopping

journey that follows the story of an arcade bad guy, trying to be a good guy. “The fi lm is testing really strongly in the research screenings to date,” enthused franchise business director Becki Fleming. “We’re supporting this with great toy, fashion and stationery core lines appropriate to the fi lm themes. We will be focusing on Vanelope for girls, and Ralph for boys, but it’s not just for kids, the humour in the fi lm, along with the stretch of nostalgic 8 bit games to fi rst person shooters defi nitely appeals to young adults too.”
