SPOTLIGHT: BRITISH CERAMIC TILE A year of change for British Ceramic Tile

One of the leading tile manufacturers and suppliers sets its sights on the house build sector

2012 has been a year of change for British Ceramic Tile. A new senior

management team, a newly enlarged product portfolio and a major appointment to drive forward the company’s dedicated specification team are just some of the changes announced by the business as it firmly set its sights on becoming a one-stop shop for all tiling needs within the house build sector.

ver the last year British Ceramic Tile completed the share acquisition of Ceramic Prints Ltd (CP) in a bold move to create one of the largest tile companies in the UK. The acquisition has seen the company draw upon the strengths of its world-class manufacturing operation and CP’s extensive sourcing and supply chain experience to offer customers a unique product portfolio and level of service that is second to none.

The combined businesses have brought greater breadth and depth to British Ceramic Tile with the company now offering high quality ceramic wall tiles and licensed brands together with floor tiles, porcelain, glass,

natural stone, mosaics and decorative products across the house build sector.

MAJOR NEW APPOINTMENT

The company has recently welcomed Jez Oliver as its new Head of Specification and House Build Channel. A major appointment for the company, this new position sees British Ceramic Tile drive forward its ambitious plans for growth throughout the house build sector.

Jez brings with him a wealth of experience within the industry including the last two years at Gerflor, a leading manufacturer of resilient flooring, and eight years at Pilkington Tiles as Regional Sales Manager for both the house builder and specification markets working with Barratt Homes and Taylor Wimpey Homes amongst others. On his appointment he said: “British Ceramic Tile is well placed for growth in the contract sector and can capitalize on its extended product portfolio, manufacturing capabilities and experienced sales team to significantly build its market share. For me, personally, I am very much

looking forward to working with a British manufacturer again especially at a time when it’s good to be British!”

MARKET-LED

PRODUCT COLLECTIONS Exciting new additions to British Ceramic Tile’s extensive product portfolio include HD Origin and The Colour Compendium, both designed and made here in the UK. Created to imitate the appearance of real stone, the new HD (High Definition) Origin collection has been

manufactured using the very latest in high definition inkjet technology and takes stone effect ceramic tiles to a whole new level of design, making them virtually impossible to distinguish from real stone. Suitable for hallways,

bathrooms, kitchens and more, the collection offers a neutral colour palette and a variety of size formats, providing a hard- wearing, cost effective alternative to natural stone. Installation is also much quicker than with real stone and there is

no sealing needed or special maintenance, making it a practical option in any development.

Another new range launched earlier in the year is The Colour Compendium; a complete range of coloured ceramic wall tiles in gloss, satin and textured finishes. Available in a versatile 148 x 148mm size, in over 60 on trend colours, these high quality tiles have premium glazes and a durable white body, with a shade to suit every tiling project. Jez added: “Plans are in place to launch new product collections for the house build sector throughout the year, but we are also keen to work alongside our customers in creating new ranges that suit their developments. Our in- house design team, world-class manufacturing capability and experience of global sourcing ensures that we can quickly create new ranges that tick all

the boxes for our developers.” ■
