Adopt a pony and save the breed

To help towards funding its vital work to preserve the true Dartmoor pony on the moor, The Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust is offering anyone a Dartmoor Pony Adoption Gift Pack, suitable for anyone, of any age, who loves horses and ponies, but for whom buying a real one is not possible.

People who adopt a Dartmoor Pony can follow its progress all year round.

There will be hot drinks, mince pies and a short walk or fun

on the obstacle course with the ponies (weather permitting). Booking for the event is essential, contact 01626 833234.

The DPHT runs an adoption scheme as part of its

ponies still run wild and free on Dartmoor, but their numbers are in serious decline.

By buying an adoption, you will be funding the DPHT’s work to support the ponies , ensuring they can continue to thrive as a vital part of the preservation of the Moor and its heritage.. The cost is £20 per year for UK residents, and £25 for those who live abroad. The adoption pack includes a line drawing and an adoption certificate and you’ll also receive updates on the development and progress of the pony you have chosen over the following year.

The pony you adopt, whether male or female, will be one of a small tradtional herd cared for at the DPHT centre. These ponies are for everyone to enjoy and here you will be able to visit them all year.
