Green plan progress ENVIRONMENT TOPICS
Article from the Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust
THE Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust (CSBT) proposal to build an innovative centre at the Eden Project is moving forward.
The trust aims to make the
building a demonstration of all that is best in the Cornwall green building industry.
The plans for the Green Build
Hub have been modified several times to take into account the layout of the site and potential requirements of ERDF funding support.
Ecological and geological
surveys of the site have been completed. We have received encouraging support from the planning department and a lot of letters from our collaborators. If you would like to send us a letter of support, please do so. We are on the verge of submission for full planning
permission. The lease with Eden should soon be finalised and the plans will be signed off by Eden’s senior management and CSBT.
CSBT is working with WWA
Surveyors and Ocean Services to assess and agree costings for the project. CSBT has had meetings with the Cornwall Development Company and has been assigned a team to assist in the commissioning of the project. We are meeting regularly and preparing a project development programme which is progressing well.
Meanwhile, the Green Build Cornwall Event will be held at
Eden on May 17-18. This will be an opportunity for us to publicise the project and a chance for the collaborators to exhibit to trade and public. Full details for exhibitors are now available. Please contact Claire Maye (
claire@csbt.org.uk, 01726 64651). We are also undertaking some free CSBT training sessions run by our collaborators - the first of these was run by Tinhay Building Supplies, Ecofill Insulation and Technopor - and attended by over 60 people. If you would like to run one of these sessions or would like to attend, please contact Claire.
