THE Federation of Master Builders (FMB), the largest trade association in the UK construction industry, is continuing its VAT campaign. Reducing VAT to five per cent for all domestic repair, maintenance and improvement works would create more than 100,000 extra jobs in the UK by 2020, according to the FMB. Research produced by analysts at Experian for the FMB suggests that over 26,600 jobs would be created in the construction industry this year, with a further 34,400 new jobs in the wider economy, if VAT was cut.
