Series 3 Lightweight

At that time I had a Suzuki SJ10 but it wasn’t really big enough to get all my gear plus a dog in the back. It was a good vehicle and was quite economical with it’s 1.0 L engine but I had a desire

for a Land Rover. After reading loads of old Land Rover magazines that a friend gave me I decided I would like an ex military Land Rover as I liked the rough and ready look, I had already painted the Suzuki in NATO green, so this was the look I was after.

Ideally a 90 was my first choice,

but after looking at the prices they were going for I decided a Lightweight was a cheaper option and looked just as cool. After surfing EBay for a few weeks I found an ex RAF hard top that was in sound condition with a full MOT, the bidding started and eventually I became the highest bidder at £1750.
