TRAVEL AND TOURISM Level 1 BTEC Diploma in


Travel and Tourism This course provides specialist studies directly relevant to the hospitality, travel and tourism and related sectors in which you are working or intend to seek employment. You will develop a range of employability skills and techniques, understanding personal qualities and attitudes essential for success in working life. The qualifi cation provides a foundation of study from which you can move onto a level 2 qualifi cation such as the Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism.


Entry requirements: No formal qualifi cations are required. You should be aged 16+ and entrance is subject to a College assessment. A satisfactory reference will also be required.


Possible next steps: BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism or employment.


Level 2 BTEC Diploma in


Travel and Tourism This course provides a background and range of skills and knowledge required for employment in the Travel and Tourism industries. Units of study include: the UK travel and tourism industry, exploring customer service in travel and tourism, UK travel and tourism destinations, European holiday destinations, exploring marketing in travel and tourism, developing employability skills for travel and tourism and planning visits for travel and tourism.


Entry requirements: BTEC Introductory Diploma (merit), or 4 GCSEs at grades D-G (including English), plus a satisfactory reference.


Possible next steps: Diploma in Travel and Tourism Level 3 - (minimum of merit / distinction grade required) or employment in Travel and Tourism.


Level 3 BTEC Diploma in


Travel and Tourism The BTEC Diploma in Travel and Tourism is designed to give you the skills, knowledge and understanding required for a range of roles in organisations within the travel and tourism sector. These include accommodation, transport, retail travel and visitor attractions. The qualifi cation also enables progression to undergraduate degree qualifi cations and professional occupations in tourism-related fi elds. You will also develop personal qualities essential for career development and progression within the sector and learn the appropriate knowledge and skills including locational geography, customer service, business skills and industry practices.


Entry requirements: BTEC Level 2 Diploma (merit) or 4 GCSEs at grades A-C (one of which should be English).


Possible next steps: University, undergraduate courses or into employment in travel and tourism.
