New Horizons You will develop your independent living skills on this course. Alongside your main programme, you can take part in extra-curricular activities every Friday at the College. These activities will help to support you to progress onto higher level or vocational courses. Activities include speech and language therapy, travel training, leadership for learning and other activities – which will widen your experience of the local community. You will take part in external projects and activities which will help you to choose what to progress to after the course. The programme is accredited by ASDAN and qualifi cations offered are: Personal Progress, PSD and English and maths at pre-entry and entry level. The College runs an LLDD school programme on Friday mornings providing a range of vocational and life skills and a valuable assessment period for people intending to enrol on a College course after leaving their special school.


Entry requirements: Interview and initial assessment at the College.


Possible next steps: Progression to higher level or vocational courses.

Pathway to Supported Employment and Independent Living


This programme is suitable for people at pre-entry and entry level 1. It provides a wide range of activities that help to develop independent living skills. You will gain units in the ASDAN accreditation scheme for Personal Progress or Personal and Social Development - depending on your level of ability. These can build up to qualify for an Award on the Foundation Learning Framework. Activities include catering, health and safety, healthy living, arts, fi tness and preparation for work, as well as English and maths.


Entry requirements: Interview and initial assessment.
