Level 2 Certifi cate in Supporting Teaching and
Learning in Schools The course will enable you to gain a valuable experience in a primary or secondary school. It gives you the skills and knowledge you need to take part in a range of classroom support activities. There is a practical assessment carried out by a qualifi ed assessor in the work setting. You will attend knowledge sessions one day a week and will be in a voluntary setting 3-4 days per week.
Entry requirements: College interview, written assessment, plus a level 1 qualifi cation or equivalent.

CACHE Level 2 Certifi cate in Introducing Caring for Children and Young People
(QCF) This course is suitable for people who have English as a second language (ESOL) and would like to undertake a qualifi cation which will give learners the basic understanding of working with children in a childcare environment. The qualifi cation is designed to help you make an informed decision about working with children and young people. As part of the course, you will study safeguarding, child development and respecting and valuing children.
Entry requirements: College interview and assessment, plus a level 1 qualifi cation or equivalent.
Possible next steps: Level 2 or 3 Childcare course depending on your ability.
CACHE Level 2 Certifi cate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (QCF)
(Apprenticeship) The Apprenticeship is a one year programme which enables you to be employed in an early years setting working with children and young people. While you are working you will work towards a nationally recognised qualifi cation. You will attend college one day per week where you will undertake knowledge and understanding in child development, safeguarding and health and safety. You will undertake the employment responsibilities and rights (ERR), Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT and be assessed by a qualifi ed assessor.
Entry requirements: You need to apply via the National Apprenticeship website:
www.apprenticeships.org.uk to attend college and work in a school as an Apprentice.
Possible next steps: Employment or level 3 qualifi cations.
