Brickwork This course provides you with the basics of bricklaying construction and helps to develop your practical experience and knowledge to further pursue a career in brickwork. The course is fundamental to becoming a bricklayer and completion of the course is necessary to progress onto the level 2 Bricklaying Diploma. You will be building garden walls, cavity systems, special bonds and learning about many aspects of how a building site is run / and your responsibilities as a tradesman on site. 100% attendance is required along with high motivation and a positive attitude towards hard work.
Entry requirements: College interview and assessment.
Possible next steps: Brickwork Diploma Level 2.
Level 2 Diploma in Brickwork
In addition to learning topics from the level 1 course in more detail, you will also learn about employment rights and responsibilities.
Entry requirements: Successful completion of the Level 1 Diploma or equivalent – or worked on-site. Selection is also by College interview and assessment.
Possible next steps: Level 3 Diploma or full NVQ if/when employment status is gained.
Level 3 Diploma in
Brickwork In addition to what you have learned in levels 1 and 2, as a third year student you will learn how to maintain and erect complex structural and non structural brickwork components. You’ll also study the advanced core units include building methods, information and communication in the industry. The course incorporates continuous assessment and an end-of-year theory and practical test.
Entry requirements: Successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma or equivalent. Selection is also by College assessment and interview. Ideally you should be in employment.
Possible next steps: Site management or further education in building studies.
