AS/A2 Classical Civilisation This is a very interesting and motivating course. It combines Ancient History (Greek and Roman) and Classical Literature. It is an excellent course for people who want to go onto University (we have links with Oxford University) or simply for those who would like a career in the civil service, law, teaching or journalism for example. You will have the opportunity to visit Rome and Pompeii in Italy. At AS, you will study ‘The Odyssey’ and Greek Life and Society; and City Life in the Ancient World with particular reference to Rome and Pompeii. The A2 module covers Roman Britain and Virgil’s ‘The Aeneid’ - the world of a hero.


Entry requirements: 5 GCSEs at grade A-C, including English and one humanities subject.

AS/A2 English Language


and Literature This is a popular course where every day speech, advertising, literature and a whole range of other spoken and written texts are examined. One module offers an opportunity for creative writing and has coursework, while the others develop the skills of language analysis and are assessed by exam. It’s an excellent course for anyone who needs to develop high-level communication skills to enter fi elds such as law, journalism, teaching or any other career where communication is essential.


Entry requirements: 5 GCSEs at grade A-C, including English, preferably at grade B.
