A LEVELS
Our A Level students are committed, successful and love studying here! When we asked them why, they said “because of the brilliant teachers, adult environment, choice of courses and fantastic space on campus.”
A Levels are split into two parts: AS and A2 Level. AS Level is the fi rst year of the course where you’ll get an introduction to the key ideas and methods of the subject you’ve chosen. You’ll be encouraged to take four AS Level subjects and would then normally go on to take three of them at A2 Level. Or, you can mix and match AS Levels with a vocational course.
AS/A2 Biology You will develop an understanding of Biology by exploring how our lifestyles and our genes affect our health. AS modules cover: diet, disease, genetics and inheritance, reproduction, biodiversity and the environment. A2 modules cover the nervous system, homeostasis, ecosystems, infection and immunity. This includes cases studies of HIV and TB. Both AS and A2 Levels have coursework with 20% of their total grade. We advise that you study Chemistry alongside Biology.
Entry requirements: 5 GCSEs at grade A-C, including a B in a science subject.
Possible next steps: Higher Education or employment.
