One of the great things about studying at HCC is that you can combine academic with vocational study. Check out the options!
Young people are most successful on full-time programmes. As a full-time student, you’ll be taught for a minimum of 12½ hours per week – with most courses being 15½ hours per week. Below is just a sample of the course combinations you could choose.

Daniela has seven A–C grade GCSEs. He has taken four AS Levels in the fi rst year and then continues with three subjects to A2 Level in the second year. Year 1 AS + AS + AS + AS Year 2 A2 + A2 + A2

Abdul has four A–C grade GCSEs and takes a BTEC Diploma in Art and Design. He adds on maths AS Level in the fi rst year and continues this subject in the second year at A2 Level. Year 1 BTEC + AS Year 2 BTEC + A2
Amy has 5 A–C grade GCSEs and has decided that she wants to complete a BTEC in Computing as quickly as possible, so she can start work. So, she chooses to study it as a full-time course – condensed into one year. Year 1 BTEC leading straight to employment
After completing her GCSEs, Aaron decides that she wants to get a job as soon as possible. So she opts to do a Business Apprenticeship at HCC. This is a one-year programme, where she’s employed for 4 days a week - and studies at the college for one day. It’s a great option, as she gets paid while she learns, plus she picks up some valuable skills.
Year 1 Business Apprenticeship which includes paid employment. This leads straight into full time work.
There are other combinations, although some may not be possible due to timetable clashes, so please ask for advice about this at your interview.
