Learning, Teaching, Research and Knowledge Exchange The CCCU

Academic Professional Development Framework (APDF) Who is the Framework for?

The CCCU Academic Development Framework brings together a number of credit-bearing modules related to various aspects of learning and teaching in HE. The overall aim is to enable colleagues to pursue scholarly engagement with issues relating to HE pedagogy.

The Framework includes:

Introductory core modules that offer new Academics an overview of the academic infrastructure for UK HE, the principles of assessment and policies relating to examining and curriculum design at CCCU.

Optional modules that build on the core modules aimed at exploring wider aspects of academic practice, including new directions in learning teaching and assessment and preparing to supervise dissertation students.

Support for small scale pedagogic research, or research-informed teaching (RIT) projects.

It is aimed at any colleague teaching on any CCCU validated academic award, including PhD students, Associate Tutors working on collaborative programmes, Sessional and fractional staff, as well as new and more experienced full time Academics.

How does it work?

Although all modules are Masters credit bearing, they may also be taken as non-credit bearing / stand alone workshops in the form of personal CPD. For those who successfully complete the assessed work there are a number of academic exit awards available:

Associate Tutors - 20 Masters credits / automatic Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA)

PGCLT (HE) - 60 Masters credits / automatic full Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)

Masters or Diploma in Education (HE) - 120 credits for the diploma / 180 credits for the Masters.
