Information Technology (IT) The IT Training Team The Information Technology (IT) training and development needs of staff at the University are supported by the IT Training Team (part of Computing Services). We support staff in a variety of ways as indicated below.

Classroom Based Training Sessions Full programme offered termly, including:
• Outlook for Email, Calendaring and Generic Accounts • Word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations • Capturing and using digital images • CLIC Learn (VLE) and associated tools
We also run sessions which may be less well known, but very useful to attend! Contact the IT Trainers for further details.
Bespoke Sessions
The IT Training Team will work with Faculties/Departments/Teams to identify training needs for groups of staff and to set up training sessions to support these identified areas.

A must for all staff using University lecture and teaching rooms, demonstrating effective use of the audio visual facilities available to deliver lectures and presentations. See page 8 for full details

IT Qualifications and Accreditation
European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL Core)
ECDL verifies your computer knowledge and practical computing skills. Recognised throughout Europe, it is designed to meet both employers and employees needs and is supported by the British Computer Society.
ECDL Core is made up of seven modules:
• Security for IT Users • IT Users Fundamentals • Word Processing • Spreadsheet Software
• Database Software • Presentation Software • Using Email and the Internet
ECDL Advanced
ECDL Advanced is a higher-level qualification aimed at staff who have successfully reached ECDL skills levels and wish to further enhance their computer proficiency.
ECDL and ECDL Advanced are offered via self-study but supported by drop in sessions available at our four main campuses providing access to tutor support and to take ECDL tests. Some of the IT training courses also support the Advanced options.
