Diversity at Work


• The University Diversity in the Workplace course, (required to be completed by all staff)


• New to International Work (UK Council for International Student Affairs resource)


Health, Safety & Legislative Training


A range of Health, Safety and Legislative related courses available to all staff.


New staff should complete Data Protection, Fire Safety and Health & Safety Environmental Awareness as part of their induction.


Other courses available are H&S training for Display Screen Equipment Users which includes a risk assessment tool.

Want development on a wide range of topics as and when you need it?


Need inspiration or ideas for a team event, meeting or staff activity?


Want self diagnostic tools that let you see how you are doing?

Towards a Sustainable Future


Opportunities to contribute to University Sustainability initiatives


Did you know that in 2011/12 the University took big steps towards our strategic goal to support a sustainable future? These include:


• A First Class award in the Green League (achieved two years in a row) – we can now count ourselves amongst the top 25% of


universities and colleges for environmental performance


• A Carbon Management programme which has achieved its targets for year one and is on track for year two


• 14 Green Impact teams achieved Bronze or higher awards for departmental accreditation


• EcoCampus Bronze, Silver and Gold stages have been awarded for our Environmental Management System


• HEA Green Academy supported the development of the Futures Initiative


• Initiated the Bioversity Project linked to the World Heritage Site in Canterbury


Sustainability Champions Masterclass


A half day workshop which will help you develop your skills in working out how to create high impact campaigns around sustainability and change existing behaviours.


Dates and times: To be advised and advertised via StaffNet and the Champions Network.


Sustainability Champions Network


Have you thought about becoming a Sustainability Champion? You will encourage and advise colleagues on specific measures to save resources and will act as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the Champions Network in your area.


We meet termly, and if you are already a sustainability champion, why not set up a Green Impact Team?
